WATCH THE WEBINAR HERE: DATA FOR ADVOCACY

On July 15, I took part in a webinar, ‘Data for Advocacy’, hosted by Agilysis Limited as part of the Joining the Dots series with Road Safety GB.

We explored how data can be used to influence policy, support advocacy and drive meaningful change - while also questioning why the same evidence can sometimes lead to very different outcomes.

I shared thoughts on:

  • Why data alone isn’t enough - we must always bring the human impact to the forefront

  • We need to stop waiting for casualties to happen in order to identify high-risk locations - and start using earlier warning signs to act before people are seriously hurt or killed

  • Crashes place a huge, often overlooked, burden on our health and care systems - we need to account for that too. If we only rely on DfT casualty data, we’re missing the full picture
